At Blue Banksia jewellery we use a number of different Banksia cones. We use the Bull Banksia (Banksia grandis), the Acorn Banksia (Banksia prionotes) and the Coastal Banksia (Bankia integrifolia). There are so many different forms of the Banksia (170 species) and they are well know for their seed pods which is what we use in our jewellery. Some are ground creepers and others can grow to 30m tall. Their flowers turn into the seed pods and provide a very valuable source of nectar.

Santalum spicatum

Sandalwood is the second most expensive wood in the world, due to its beautiful smell and oils. Unfortunately due to this they have been over-harvested around the world, and restrictions have been placed on their collection. It is a shrubby small tree that can grow to 6m in height.
